New Child's Play Trailer Will Make You Rethink Your Smart Home
While the original Child’s Play had a magic angle to it, with the soul of killer Charles Lee Ray transferred into a doll, the upcoming remake goes with a different tactic. Replacing fantasy elements with science-fiction, the new take on Chucky sees him as a bit of artificial intelligence gone wrong – and that’s a pretty dangerous thing in the age smart phones and smart homes. In this revamped take on the Child's Play franchise, Gabriel Bateman stars as Andy Barclay - an introvert who is nervous to move to a new town. His mom, Karen (Aubrey Plaza), is hopeful that the change of scenery will be good for him, and that he'll be able to make friends fast, but things initially don't go as planned. To help with Andy's loneliness she buys him a Buddi– a toy designed to sync up with the other technologies created by the tech giant Kaslan Corp. – but things start to go horribly wrong when the doll, named Chucky (Mark Hamill), becomes homicidal.
The new Child’s Play has been a bit deliberate when it comes to revealing details about the evil doll at the center of its plot, with the casting of Mark Hamill only revealed a few weeks ago at WonderCon, and our first full look at Chucky dropping a couple days ago. This trailer still plays a bit coy, only showing him in brief shots, and showcasing only one line at the end (“Goodnight, Andy”), but it does leave an impression.
In addition to finally getting creeped out by an in-motion Chucky, this preview also gives us a brief glimpse at what to expect from some of the creative kills that will be featured in the movie – despite the fact that it’s a green band trailer for what will be an R-rated flick.
Those concerned that the evil doll wouldn’t get to wield his most iconic weapon – a chef’s knife – must certainly be breathing a sigh of relief, but stabbing seems like it’s only going to be one of the many causes of fatalities in this new Child’s Play. The sequence with the tangled Christmas lights and the lawnmower looks like it’s going to have a seriously bloody conclusion, and it also looks like Chucky is going to have a bit of fun when it comes to controlling various technologies, including cars. This is just a taste, though, and presumably we’ll be getting a whole lot more when the finished film comes out this summer.
Speaking of which, Child’s Play – which co-stars Brian Tyree Henry and Tim Matheson – will be in theaters in just a couple of months, set to be released by Orion Pictures on June 21st. It's been 16 years since the last Austin Powers movie but it seems that the franchise is still as popular as ever, following Mike Myers appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He brought Dr. Evil out of retirement for a bit during Fallon's monologue as the most recent person to be fired from the Trump Administration. Check it out.
A number of people have recently left the executive branch, which is, of course, great fodder for the late night talk shows. Jimmy Fallon brought it up last night and claimed that he had an exclusive interview with somebody who had just been fired. It turned out to be Mike Myers dusting off his role as Austin Powers nemesis Dr. Evil.
Dr. Evil says he was originally going be hired as the Secretary of Evil, because of course, but ended up as an "idea guy." Of course, those ideas are pure Dr. Evil. Rather than building a border wall, he wanted a moat filled with spiky blowfish, one assumes because he was all out of ill-tempered sea bass.
Unfortunately, we never learn exactly why Dr. Evil was fired from his job in the White House. However, we'll likely learn as Dr. Evil will, of course, be writing a tell-all book. Dr. Evil also announced his own plan to run for President, including his own merchandise, which, if it really existed, is a hat I would buy.
Based on the popular response from the audience, it seems that there are a lot of people who still remember, and enjoy, Dr. Evil. Could something like this renew interest in the franchise? The door to a fourth Austin Powers film has always been open, the players simply haven't found an idea worth turning into a film yet. Maybe getting into character will help the ideas flow.
Mike Myers himself hasn't been in the public eye as much in recent years, though that will change this summer, as Myers has a credited role in the Margot Robbie noir-thriller Terminal which recently released its first trailer.
While we may never get another big screen Austin Powers, it's clear that Mike Myers hasn't lost a step in the performance of Dr. Evil. The evil laugh still sounds great and while the character may have become a little stale of the course of three films, it's been long enough now that we can remember what was so funny back then.

When Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 May Finally Begin Filming
Although Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was one of the first movies to be announced for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 (or whatever the next upcoming slate of movies is being called), the firing and eventual re-hiring of writer and director James Gunn complicated its release schedule. We won’t be seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as soon as was previously believed, but word’s come in that it could begin filming as soon as next year.
Back in March, it had been rumored that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wouldn’t start rolling cameras until early 2021, but THR is saying that production is actually set to begin sometime in 2020. It’s possible that the launch date is for late in 2020, thus being only a few months separated from the previously rumored date, but for Guardians of the Galaxy fans, the prospect of the team’s threequel coming sooner than previously expected is undoubtedly welcome.
When Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was first unveiled, it was generally believed that it would be ready to go by summer 2020. Marvel never officially confirmed this, but after Disney fired James Gunn last July, any release date plans that might have been penciled in were erased, and the project was put on indefinite hiatus.
In between when James Gunn was fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and then re-hired in March, he boarded the DC Extended Universe to write and direct The Suicide Squad, and that’s still in play. Production on that sequel/relaunch is set to begin in September, and because it’s not coming out until August 2021, it’s possible Gunn could find himself in a situation where he’s directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and still working on The Suicide Squad on the side.
In any case, assuming that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 does end up beginning production in 2020, there’s a slim chance it could be ready to go by November 5, 2021, which is one of the dates that Marvel has blocked off. However, given all the VFX work that goes into making these movies, I suspect that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 won’t arrive until 2022, presumably taking the May 6 date, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also opened in May.

While no official plot details have been revealed for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have been revealed yet, the currently-playing Avengers: Endgame did hint at what might be coming up by showing Thor accompanying the Guardians back into space and Star-Lord looking for the past version of Gamora, who is now running around the present day MCU. Let’s also not forget that one of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s mid-credit scenes set the stage for Adam Warlock to eventually be brought into this universe.

New Mission: Impossible Fallout Video Puts You In Tom Cruises Crazy Helicopter Stunt
With every new Mission: Impossible movie comes some new absurd and seemingly impossible stunt performed by franchise star Tom Cruise. This summer's Mission: Impossible - Fallout is no different. Much of the discussion this time around has been about the crazy stunt where Tom Cruise jumped from one building to another and the gnarly injury he suffered performing it. Yet despite the injury, that stunt is perhaps only second on the danger and impressive scale. The actor performed a dangerous helicopter stunt all by himself for the film, and now a new video puts you inside the helicopter for a 360 view. Check it out below:
A big part of what makes this stunt so impressive is that Tom Cruise is piloting the helicopter all by himself. The actor put in a lot of training hours to prepare himself to pull it off, and this really cool 360 video allows you to look all around the cabin to see that this isn't some movie magic. Tom Cruise is a legit helicopter pilot. Part of what they wanted to achieve with this stunt was a sense of realism, and and this video shows that they've done that. This 360 camera technology may be more geared towards VR applications than traditional movies, but the ability to change perspectives is really neat. The video is quite immersive and almost disorienting at points, giving you a real sense of flight. The scenery is also beautiful, and you can see why Tom Cruise insists on doing his own stunts.
There are several other 360 videos on the Gfycat page for Mission: Impossible - Fallout, showing different points in Tom Cruise's helicopter flight. One of them shows Tom Cruise's helicopter flying behind another through what appears to be a relatively narrow canyon. Another of the gifs is a 360 video from outside one of the helicopters where Henry Cavill's mustachioed character is sitting on the side and shooting out. I don't know what part of the film this helicopter chase takes place in, but this is shaping up to be one of the true action highlights in a film that seems to be a non-stop series of increasingly fun and exciting stunts.
Jumping from one building to another and breaking your ankle in the process is pretty wild, but flying a huge machine and performing complicated maneuvers as Tom Cruise does in Mission: Impossible - Fallout is another level of danger entirely. The margin for error is smaller and the potential damage if something goes wrong is exponentially greater. Fortunately, all that practice and hard work paid off and you can see some helicopter action in the new trailer, and it looks great.

Roman Polanski’s Wife Isn’t Happy About Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming directorial effort Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is his “love letter” to Los Angeles as he plays and tinkers with the city's happenings in 1969, with a focus on the film industry’s state and the infamous Manson Family murders. Roman Polanski is at the center of both these subjects. At the time, the director had just found success with his film Rosemary’s Baby when his pregnant wife Sharon Tate was brutally murdered by Manson’s cult following.
Roman Polanski will be portrayed in the film by Polish actor Rafal Zawierucha alongside Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate. The couple look to live next to fictional film star Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Fact may be being mixed with fiction in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but Polanski’s wife Emmanuelle Seigner has shown her discomfort with his presence in Tarantino’s flick. Check out her words, translated from French by THR:
I am just saying that it doesn’t bother them [in Hollywood] to make a film about Roman and his tragic story, and make money with it… while at the same time they have made him a pariah. And all without consulting him of course. How can you take advantage of someone's tragic life while trampling on them?
The French actress and model is angered by the inclusion of her husband’s personal life in the highly-anticipated Quentin Tarantino movie which recently premiered at Cannes to high applause.
Emmanuelle Seigner also touches on Hollywood’s making him into a “pariah”, likely a reference to the Academy kicking him out of the Academy last year for his 1977 rape charges. Roman Polanski fled the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty for drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl, and hasn’t since returned to the states.
Seigner added that she is not attacking the film itself, but pointing out the “bothersome” move by Quentin Tarantino not to approach Polanski about his depiction in the film. Tarantino recently commented (prior to her words) that he is a huge fan of the director’s work, particularly Rosemary’s Baby.
Roman Polanski was briefly shown in the latest trailer for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The movie will also include portrayals of Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen, film producer Marvin Schwartz (played by Al Pacino) and so forth. Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate looks to be central to the story of the film, making Roman’s portrayal also important to the events Tarantino wanted to explore.
Emmanuelle Seigner’s words do spark a continuous debate between Hollywood and the people they’ve depicted over the years. Should the real figures being used as a source of entertainment be consulted or compensated in order for their appearance on screen to be allowed?

Zoe Saldana Almost Played Lois Lane In Man Of Steel
The DC live-action universe has had a fascinating tenure in theaters, full of both peaks and valleys. Zack Snyder was the architect of the franchise's beginning stages, starting with 2013's Man of Steel, and eventually expanding with Batman v Superman and Justice League. While he's since stepped down from the DCEU, you can't deny his vision helped kickstart the entire shared universe.
Man of Steel started it all, and took a major departure from Superman's comic book persona, allowing him to kill the villainous General Zodd during the film's conclusion. The movie also started Amy Adams' tenure as Lois Lane, although Zack Snyder recently revealed that there was another actress in the mix originally: Zoe Saldana. As Snyder recently revealed:
At a time, it was between her and Zoe Saldana. They’re totally different, but their presence is super strong.
Well, this is an exciting concept. While Amy Adams put her typical acting talent into the role the iconic reporter/love interest, it's intriguing to hear that Zoe Saldana could have filled the role at one point.
Zack Snyder's comments to Comic Book Debate might come as a surprise to some fans, as Amy Adams has become fairly synonymous with the role of Lois Lane. Still, Zoe Saldana has already proven herself to be the queen of sci-fi, so what's another major franchise to add to her schedule? Although her involvement with DC might have had the potential to exclude her from playing Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
If Zoe Saldana somehow managed to to get the job in Man of Steel, that be a whopping fourth major franchises for the actress to play the female lead in. At that point, she'd already nabbed the role of Neytiri in Avatar, as well as playing Uhura in the Star Trek movies. Plus we can't forget her role as Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in both the Guardians and Avengers movies.
Of course, Amy Adams did great as Lois Lane, playing a more badass version of the character than we'd previously seen on the silver screen. Following Man of Steel, Adams would reprise her role in Batman v Superman and Justice League. Although it's currently unclear if her tenure in the CEU has come to an end.
Following the poor box office and critical performance of Justice League, the DC Universe has seemingly taken a step away from serialized storytelling, instead allowing directors more autonomy over capsulated blockbusters. But that change has also brought the end to the OG DCEU characters like Ben Affleck's Batman.
Ben Affleck has officially hung up the cowl as Batman, and Superman actor Henry Cavill has been long rumored to be done with his superpowered role forever. Amy Adams doesn't appear to have any plans to return to the DCEU, so fans may have also seen the last of her Lois Lane as well.
While she might not have gotten the role of Lois Lane, it should be interesting to see what's coming down the pipeline for Zoe Saldana. Her reign as the current sci-fi queen doesn't seem to be stopping soon-- at least where two of her iconic roles are concerned. Plus there's no guarantee that she won't eventually jump to the DC side of things for another role in the DC Extended Universe.
Zoe Saldana will return to theaters with either Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or Avatar 2. Because Marvel Studios hasn't revealed its plans for Phase Four (yet), it's unclear when the highly anticipated Guardians threequel will be released, once again allowing Saldana to play the fiercest woman in the galaxy-- Gamora.
Guardians 3 was originally going to be one of the first installments in Phase Four of the MCU, but production was put on indefinite hold after director James Gunn was fired by Disney last July. This put the future of the Guardians franchise in jeopardy for a number of months, although Gunn has since been reinstated to his directing role.

Narratively, Zoe Saldana should be able to take her signature Marvel character to new places with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gamora as we knew her died in Infinity War, murdered by Thanos so he could procure the Soul Stone. But she was revived in Endgame through some tricky storytelling-- specifically time travel.
By the end of Endgame, 2014 Gamora had joined the good guys, and was last seen on the battlefield of the final fight. Her fate was left unclear, although the Guardians (Asguardians?) are seemingly on a mission to track the green girl down.
Zoe Saldana will finally reprise her Avatar role in the upcoming sequel, which has been pushed back innumerable times by James Cameron. The original film is the highest grossing movie in history, and Saldana played Na'vi royalty Neytiri through motion capture and stunning visual affects. The public has been waiting over a decade for Cameron's sequels, and his leading actress has the chance to star in yet another big money blockbuster.
The gap in time between the Avatar movies might have the potential to hamper its ticket sales, although the franchise's attraction at Disney parks has kept the conversation going. We'll just have to wait and see what James Cameron is planning, and how many Avatar movies actually get the green light from the studio-- especially now that Disney has the rights to the property.
Then there's the Star Trek franchise, and Zoe Saldana's role as Uhura. 2016's Star Trek Beyond wasn't the success the studio had been hoping for, and the cast is unclear whether or not they'll get another installment. Add in the death of Anton Yelchin, and the current Star Trek series is left totally in the air.

The Avengers: Endgame Trailer Has Us Obsessing Over Everyone's Hair
The final trailer for Avengers: Endgame has arrived, and it definitely didn't disappoint. While most of the film's plot remains a mystery, Marvel Studios revealed new glimpses of the surviving heroes, and the world Thanos left behind after he snapped his fingers and wiped out half the galaxy's population. The final trailer actually answered a few long standing questions, while inspiring countless others. But it's various characters' hairstyles that I'm obsessing with, as they seem to be teasing a variety of exciting plot points. Let's break down all the biggest coiffures in Endgame.
Black Widow's hair is an extremely fascinating aspect of the the Avengers: Endgame marketing, and one that has puzzled the fandom since the first trailer arrived. Widow had a short cut in Infinity War, dyed blonde presumably to keep her under the radar as she traveled the world with Captain America and Falcon. But with Thanos winning and half of all life eradicated, the Endgame trailer reveals that Widow doesn't appear to be worrying much about her appearance.
The passage of time from Infinity War to Endgame can be seen through Natasha's hair, as it grows quite a few inches since the last time we saw her. What's more, her natural red hair is growing out, leaving only the tips of her hair remaining blonde. There was already some debate about whether or not her hair was CGI'd in the last trailer, so it should be interesting to see how the timeline(s) all shakes out when Endgame finally hits theaters.
Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton is rocking his own unique look, as he's seemingly left Hawkeye behind him, and taken on the new mantle of Ronin. Clint was noticeably missing during the events of Infinity War, as he and Scott Lang were put on house arrest after the events of Captain America: Civil War. It's currently unclear what happened to him to make him the far more deadly Ronin, but smart money says at least part of his family faded to dust.
It looks like Black Widow will be the one to track her old S.H.I.E.L.D. buddy down, and hopefully help him return to the light side of the force. The trailers for Endgame show him dispatching enemies with a sword, rather than Hawkeye's trick arrows. But he ultimately appears with a new suit along with the rest of the Avengers, so hopefully his crazy hair cut and murderous alter ego don't stick around for long.
Captain Marvel is the most recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with her solo movie currently raking in the money at the box office. Fans have been eager to see how Carol Danvers will interact with the rest of The Avengers, and explain where TF she's been for the past few decades. Because Earth's Mightiest Heroes could have used the help during Infinity War, as well as conflicts in New York and Sokovia.
Brie Larson's character seems to have grown her hair out in the many years since she became Captain Marvel. While Carol Danvers hasn't aged a day, she seems to be rocking a new do and possibly some highlights. Her longer cut debuted in the Captain Marvelmid-credits scene, which was shot by the Russo Brothers and should appear in the final cut of Endgame.

Does anyone else have chills? Moviegoers have been waiting a year since Avengers: Infinity War arrived in theaters, and shattered expectations and hearts with its devastating twist ending. Smart money says that the surviving characters will find a way to reverse Thanos' snap, although they might not all make it out of the conflict alive.

Margot Robbie has had an eclectic resume over the past several years, playing characters as varied as Harley Quinn, Tonya Harding, Tarzan's Jane, a rabbit named Flopsy and, in an upcoming project, Queen Elizabeth I. Each of these movies has given Margot Robbie a different look, but it is in Mary Queen of Scots that Robbie dives deep and is the most unrecognizable. Don't take my word for it. Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan star in the new film, which will follow the life of Mary Stuart and her relationship with her Elizabeth I. Both are women in a male-dominated world of politics. However, Mary Stuart grew up in France and was briefly married to the Dauphin of France while Elizabeth I grew up in England and succeeded the throne after Mary Tudor's death. The relationship between Elizabeth 1 and Mary Stuart was tumultuous, as the latter attempted to take over the formers throne at one point, leading to distrust and Mary Stuart's eventual beheading years later.
Saoirse Ronan is on board to play Mary Stuart, who will be attempting to take on the English and claim the throne there. Margot Robbie is playing Elizabeth I. It's a little unfair that all of the attention has been on Robbie when Ronan is the movie's namesake, but just look at Robbie! Her stern face and that hair and makeup are totally different than what we've seen from the actress. Ronan's hair is obviously different too, but her period look is far more understated.
We've already seen a trailer for the new movie that highlights the regal way the two actresses carry themselves. Period dramas are generally always at least somewhat in vogue and we expect this one to get quite a bit of attention in the coming months. If you haven't seen the full trailer, you can take a look.
We're starting to get into the portion of the year when movies with awards potential are being released in full force. Flicks like A Star is Born and First Man are already out and a slew of other hopefuls will be released in the coming months. Mary Queen of Scots will be officially hitting theaters on December 7 around the other holiday releases.
